The Oscars 2014

Who is going to win best actor/ best actress? Will Leonardo DiCaprio finally get his Oscar? Who will be the best dressed and who will be the worst dressed? These are just some of the questions everyone asks themseleves before the biggest night in Hollywood. The most awaited night in the world. The finale of the award season: the Academy Awards.

I wanted to post this post as soon as the red carpet was done, but everything was fresh and I just couldn't sort my thoughts on who was the best dressed.
I had so many favorites this year that is going to be hard to pick one out. But before we come to that, let's see some of the most striking dresses from the night before.

Oops, guess who fell this year again? But this time it was not on her way up to pick up the Oscar, it was on the red carpet. Yeah, that's right it was Jennifer Lawrence, but as always she laughed it off and acted as if it was the most normal thing to happen. Just like last year she was wearing Dior Couture and she looked amazing in the red dress and pixie-cut hair.

Next on: Best Actress winner Cate Blanchett in an absoultely stunning Armani Prive nude colored dress. I must say she is one of my favorites. The dress, the hair, the jewlery it all fit perfectly together.

Lupita Nyong'o. I don't know how to describe her. I instantly fell in love with the custom made Prada dress she wore. She looked like a Disney princess, and she is such a cutie. For me, she was the best dressed this whole award season. Her dress was inspired by champagne and she chose this beautiful pale blue color because it reminded her of her home, Nairobi. And she wanted to have a part of it with her for the most important night of her life.
p.s. She won the Best Supporting Actress award.

Next up: The Hollywood royalty. Angelina Jolie, who wore a metalic Ellie Saab gown and Brad Pitt. What is there to say about them?

Sandra Bullock was dressed simple but elegant in Alexander McQueen

Now one of Mina's favorites.Amy Adams in Gucci Premiere with Tiffany and Co. jewlery. We both agreed that the dress is gorgeous but that there was something missing. She would've looked prettier if she has a necklace on her. The thing I hated about her looks was her hair. It just didn't look right to me. And for me she looked better last year in her Oscar de la Renta gown.

The best make up was definitely Emma Watson , but her Vera Wang dress didn't stand out. It was pretty, but not pretty enough to win her a best dressed nomination.

Julia Roberts if for me one of the prettiest women in Hollywood. She just has this energy around her that always maker her beautiful. But this time I didn't like her outfit that much. She was in  Givenchy Couture by Riccardo Tisci and the dress reminded me a little of Morticia Addams. I did love her hair.

This year we had three pregnant ladies on the red carpet: Olivia Wilde, Kerry Washington and Elsa Pataky.  Olivia ( in Valentino) and Kerry ( in Jason Wu) looked lovely, both of them. But Elsa Pataky looked awful in the Ellie Saab gown.

Anne Hathaway wore Gucci, and she looked like some kind of warrior princess. The dress suited her much better than the last years.

Penelope Cruz in Giambattista Valli. It was nothing special. She didn't draw much attention.

Jennifer Garner in a Oscar de la Renta gown.

Charlize Theron wearing Dior Couture with a $15 million worht Harry Winston necklace. I didn't expect anything less from her, she is always one of the best dressed at the red carpet.

Stunning, that's how I would describe Kate Hudson's dress by Atelier Versace. She looks like an ice queen, she looks impeccable.

Naomi Watts in a dress by Calvin Klein, pure elegance.

Lady Gaga in guess who? Versace of course. She looked out of this world. But I think she would've looked even better if her hair was let down.

Who are you favorites? Who do you think is the best / worst dressed?
